When Edmond Hall joined Papa Bue’s Viking Jazzband for a short tour and some recording in Copenhagen, he didn’t come to practice. “When Ed came to a gig”, wrote the American pianist Art Hodes, “he came to play. No attitude. No ego trip. I’ve worked with Sidney Bechet, Barney Bigard, Omer Simeon, Pee Wee Russell, and I can talk about Ed Hall. Like Bechet – he was the kind of player that made things happen.”
