This is the first CD release of the LP of the same name from 1977, recorded in the studio in Copenhagen. The music (12 tunes – 38 min.) consists of classic New Orleans/traditional jazz numbers. Gustav Winckler was considered "Denmark's Bing Crosby" – one of that country's most famous crooners. For the Danes, this meeting of Papa Bue and Gustav Winckler – two of the absolute most popular musical acts in Denmark – was a match made in heaven, as the listener will also soon discover. Papa Bue's Viking Jazzband delivers yet another dynamic and captivating performance, performing nothing but classic New Orleans favorites. This CD is a loving, successful attempt to combine evergreens with intense improvised jazz solos, and is further enhanced by the guest appearance of the famous American cornetist Wild Bill Davison.
