By the 1950s, the feverishly sculpted, rough-hewn innovations characteristic of the early Chicagoan period had mellowed into a polished band style remarkable for both its integrity and its staying power. Condon nevertheless continued to produce superior hot jazz for many more years, with the front line of Davison, Cutshall, and Hall being one of the best ever to have played beneath his banner.
