Live At Montmartre Vol. 2
Several European listeners, seeing and hearing Warne and Lee playing so closely together, assumed that they had been working in tandem for some time. ”Not so” Warne said. “People seem to think Lee and I have been together since the Tristano days, and the Capitol records. In fact I haven’t seen Lee for a long time. We’ve been resident on different coasts!”. At the outset the two were paired off with the Danish rhythm section to play at Copenhagen’s Café Montmartre at the beginning of December. From that initial club booking events snowballed. It was obvious there was an audience waiting for the Marsh-Konitz music and it was decided to put together a touring group to take up the offered bookings.
