Papa Bue’s Viking Jazzband began its recording career in 1956 and went on until Arne “Bue” Jensen died in November 2011.

The band was one of the most popular traditional Jazz Bands in Europe. The big three were Chris Barber, Papa Bue and Acker Bilk.

Papa Bue did a lot of recordings and was number one on the Hit Parade in many countries with Schlafe Mein Prinschen. It sold more than a million records, which was a lot for a jazz record. During their career they many American jazz musicians visited Denmark. The first was George Lewis with whom they toured and recorded. The second was the hilarious New Orleans born blues singer and piano player Champion Jack Dupree. Then came clarinet player Edmond Hall and trumpet player Wingy Manone. After them piano player Art Hodes and clarinet player Albert Nicholas and finally trumpet player Wild Bill Davison. There are 2 or 3 tracks with all of them on this CD.
