Archey's band was a tight, well-rehearsed unit that offered something different from the usual fare heard at Eddie Condon's, Central Plaza, and Stuyvesant Casino Not only did they use loosely assembled head arrangements as a means of assuring consistency and textural variety, but they also presented original compositions and classic era tunes rarely heard at public jam sessions. But what is most important about the Archey group is its joie de vivre. One cannot help feeling good when listening to these eminently skilled |azzmen having so much fun doing what they love,

Henry Goodwin, trumpet; JimmyArchey, trombone; Benny Waters, clarinet and soprano sax; Dick Wellstood, piano; George "Pops" Foster, bass; Tommy Benford, drums
