A major event for jazz fans in general and Duke Ellington fans in particular. Here – for the first time – is Ellington’s original 30-minute long studio recording of Togo Brava Suite in its entirety, plus 42 minutes containing more exciting, previously unreleased material recorded in New York around the same time (June, 1971), with the same band. The Togo Brava Suite is the most rhythmic and most “African” of all Elling- ton’s works. Particularly great solo work is contributed by the saxophone section – Paul Gonsalves, Harold Ashby, Russell Procope and Harry Carney – plus Norris Turney on flute and the Duke Himself on piano.
