Starting in 1973 Wild Bill Davison made Copenhagen, Denmark his home base for European tours, appearing regularly with Papa Bue's Viking Jazz Band between 1974 and 1977. Arne Bue Jensen and Jørgen Svare had formed their group in 1956 and recorded prolifically for Storyville from that time through 1978, remarkably maintaining essentially the same personnel through those years. Bue's took special delight in accompanying and recording with visiting American jazzmen, among whom were George Lewis, Champion Jack Dupree, Edmond Hall, Wingy Manone, Albert Nicholas, and Wild Bill. As can be heard on the records in the present series, Davison obviously enjoyed their musical support and repeatedly praised both the Vikings and Fessor's Big City Band (STCD 5525) on his return visits to America
