In space of five years, 25 years old Niels Lan Doky has made a remarkably impressive impact on the international jazz scene – a measure not only of his exceptional talent but also of his commitment and strong sense of musical direction. For a country of only about five million people, Denmark has produced a roster of jazz musicians over the years, one of the most celebrated being Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen, who has been the bassist on three of the four albums Lan Doky has made under his own name for Storyville.
