C-Jam Blues / Perdido / Late Woman Blues / How High The Moon / On The Sunny Side Of The Street / Take The “A”-Train / Body & Soul / After Your Gone / Oh, Lady, Be Good! / Rosetta Stuff Smith’s recorded legacy is not very large, considering that he is rated by many as the greatest of all jazz violinists. It is therefore a happy event that this swinging live session– one of his last – has been discovered and released by Storyville. Recorded in Switzerland 1965, two years before Stuff Smith’s death, with trio led by Swiss Fats Waller-inspired stride pianist, Henri Chaix. All ten tunes are evergreens, with Stuff singing on four of them (as well as playing violin).
Stuff Smith – violin & vocal, Henri Chaix – piano, Michel Guillemin – bass, Wallace Bishop – drums
