Live 1955 Miami Beach
BluesThis live concert from Miami Beach in 1955 is being released in its entirety for the first time on CD. The musical style of this 70-minute, 13-tune CD is traditional jazz and swing, with compositions by W.C. Handy, Fats Waller, Louis Armstrong and Hoagy Carmichael, among others. On this CD the famous American cornetist Wild Bill Davison is backed by the eminent swing quintet, the Eddie Condon All Stars. Every member of this band is a swing jazz superstar; together they create a top-professional, hard-swinging unit. Wild Bill Davison plays cornet with his trademark brash, jaunty attack with growls and slurs along with great harmonics. Pee Wee Russell performs brilliantly – without a safety net, but always landing on the beat – and very lyrically, on such tunes as "Beale Street Blues" and "Singin’ the Blues".With such a density and intensity of music, this CD deserves repeated listening, revealing additional levels of creativity
