Though not readily perceived by the casual listener, the styles of the various bands associated with the New Orleans Revival – as can be heard on this CD – displayed almost as much diversity as those of the classic period. New Orleans music had always played an integral role in the daily life of the community. From its earliest days, New Orleans demanded music for all occasions, from funerals, parades, picnics, and lawn parties to political ballyhoos, store openings, and public dances, as well as in bordellos, cabarets, and vaudeville houses. So here it is: Sit down, relax and listen. Use your imagination and you will be right there where it all happened!
