“I have always had a lot of respect and admiration for Maggie, and I owe a lot to him for the tips he was groovy enough to lay on me way back in the 40’s during the end of the war… Now about “JAZZ BROTHERS”, I thought the solos of all the sidemen were fantastic. Rouse really knocked me out, very thoughtful. Better than ever. He’s really painting pictures, letting his maturity and knowledge work for him. The same goes for Barry Harris, who is – as always – impeccable in solos as well as comping behind the horn men. For my money “Search” is the best thing on the album. I can listen to that one over and over. That very rare “electric thing” comes through on that one. Grady does some tasty stuff on tubs on that one also.”
