It is therefore a happy event that this swinging live session– one of his last – has been discovered and released by Storyville. Recorded in Switzerland 1965, two years before Stuff Smith’s death, with trio led by Swiss Fats Waller-inspired stride pianist, Henri Chaix. All ten tunes are evergreens, with Stuff singing on four of them (as well as playing violin).

Stuff Smith – violin & vocal, Henri Chaix – piano, Michel Guillemin – bass, Wallace Bishop – drums
